National Sport Resources
OSC's coaching and officiating pathways operate within a broader Canadian sport system built on integrity, safety, and professional development. The following organizations provide resources that support coaches, officials, athletes, and administrators across all Canadian sport.
- Sport Integrity Canada — Canada's independent body responsible for administering safe sport, anti-doping, and competition manipulation programs across federally funded national sport organizations.
- Canadian Safe Sport Program — The national program through which Sport Integrity Canada independently administers the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS), including a confidential process for reporting and responding to concerns.
- Coaching Association of Canada — The national organization responsible for coach education and professional development, delivering training and resources to coaches across dozens of Canadian sports, including OSC.
- National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) — Canada's standardized coach education system, providing training across three coaching streams (Community Sport, Competition, and Instruction) to coaches and coach developers nationwide.
- Mental Health and Sport Resource Hub — A resource hub from the Coaching Association of Canada offering tools and guidance to help coaches integrate positive mental health practices into their sport environments.
Coaching Development
OSC delivers coach development through the FISO Coach Education Programme, a structured pathway that takes coaches from grassroots certification through to Master Coach Trainer. Courses are taught by certified Level 3+ coach trainers and are designed for individuals who already have proficiency teaching and training athletes — they build on existing coaching experience rather than teaching the fundamentals of instruction. Coaches progress by combining formal training with practical experience, requiring 100 hours of coaching practice to advance to each new level and to maintain certification every two years.

Officials Development
OSC certifies officials through the World Obstacle judge certification framework, covering three technical pathways: OCR Cross Country, OCR Track (100m, 400m), and Ninja (Endurance, Speed, and Track). Each level requires passing an exam and accumulating the requisite officiating experience, with officials progressing from Assistant Judge (eligible for national competitions) through Judge and International Judge, up to Senior International Judge and Technical Delegate roles at the highest levels of international competition.
